CV carburetors can be pretty forgiving for minor exhaust changes. Do you live near sea level? If so, you will probably want to at least remove the white spacer from the slide.
I have heard that you can drill some holes in the stock pipe between the spot welds at the back end in order to increase the noise. I haven't tried this, but it makes sense because a lot of baffles route the gasses out to the perimeter and back to the core. In order to experiment without messing up your original muffler, you could probably buy a spare stock muffler fairly cheaply from someone who has put an aftermarket unit on.
